While we were staying in Kent, a local suggested we visit Chilham. It’s a gorgeous little unspoilt village so typical of England. Only a few building surround a square, but they are so quintessentially British that you can’t help but smile. These unexpected, unplanned gems are one of my favourite parts of travelling.

A tea room, a pub and a few houses surround the central part of the quaint little village.

Chilham Castle is a private home, so we didn’t approach too closely. It’s open to the public on rare occasions, but this wasn’t one of those days.

A delightful little interlude on our way to Canterbury Cathedral.
